School Custodian: The quiet hero of the school. They are always the first to arrive each day, clean up messes no one dares to touch and befriend everyone that passes by. Happy National Custodian Appreciation Day! Thank you to our custodians for working behind the scenes to keep Westside Schools clean. Pictured consecutively and left to right. Westside Elementary GT had a special guest speaker this afternoon. Mrs. Robin Guile shared aspects of her job as a therapist, talked about the brain and how it processes emotions. It was a wonderful way for students to learn new information, techniques to handle big emotions and review previous information concerning the brain. Thank you Mrs. Guile!

Congratulations to Westside Superintendent, Mr. Scott Gauntt, for being named as the ASPA (Arkansas School Psychology Association) “Administrator of the Year!” This was a true surprise to him and we were able to keep it under wraps so that he had no clue that he was even nominated. He thought he was driving to Conway this morning to present the award to another one of our staff members! Thank you Mr. Gauntt for all you do for the students and staff in our district!!!

WES gifted and talented students spent the day visiting Arkansas State University. The morning was spent at the museum to tie into the end of their novel unit. The afternoon was spent in the Arkansas State University Bioscience Institute. The students toured the laboratory, saw a variety of science experiments occurring and even participated in extracting DNA from a strawberry. A fun day of learning was had by all! #Warriors
